BKC November 11 Workshop

Regina Burgio

12 Yoga Poses to Improve Bone Strength

2 yoga coupons or $20

In this workshop you will learn the 12 yoga poses that have been shown to improve bone health from Dr. Loren Fishman’s groundbreaking 10-year study. When done daily, the 12 poses have been shown to reverse osteoporosis and osteopenia in those that have it, and build bone in those who do not have these conditions, and don’t want them.

This workshop is ideal for beginners who are new to yoga or seasoned practitioners who may want to adapt their practice to focus on improving bone health. There are beginner, intermediate and advanced versions of all 12 poses.

In addition, we will cover other exercises and stretches that improve posture, balance and agility. Chairs and props will also be available.

Regina is passionate about yoga, healthy living, and enjoying life to the fullest. Her yoga practice and teaching focuses on the therapeutic benefits of yoga (improved posture, a healthy back, stronger bones, better balance, core strength and greater relaxation), to counter the effects of technology and modern living, as well as a way to connect more deeply to oneself. Classes also incorporate meditation and breathing practices. She is a certified 500-hr Kripalu Yoga Teacher and trained in Yoga for Osteoporosis.

Practice moving like a great river; being still as a mountain. This workshop focuses on Silk Reeling Exercises, adaptations of Five Element Qigong, Agility Exercises, Standing Meditation, and applications. Whether you are interested in traditional martial arts training, or simply want to move, de-stress, and get healthier, you will enjoy this unique combination of exercises. Absolute beginners and long-time practitioners benefit equally as Greg shares traditional, foundational practices that are absent in many Westernized forms of Qigong. These practices are fundamental if you really want to nurture your energy while moving with efficiency, power, and grace. While enhancing your physical well-being you are generating a tranquil, aware mind. A Chinese saying: “with your whole being, develop your life,” sums up the ultimate purpose of Qigong.

About Greg Dilisio

Originally trained in Yang Style Taiji, Greg now teaches the more comprehensive, and traditional, Chen Style Taiji and Qigong. He is directly mentored by Master Yang Yang, a 19th generation Master in the lineage of the late Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang. Greg is a certified teacher of Yang’s Evidenced-Based Taiji and Evidence-Based Qigong Curriculum and continues to train in advanced Taiji/Qigong with him. Greg has taught thousands of students at Kripalu Center, Canyon Ranch, and internationally since 1990, and is featured in the 60min DVD: Taiji/Qigong, Following Movement in Nature.

The feet are the body’s foundation and your entire body’s functionality depends on their health. The feet are a great feat of anatomical engineering. Ankles, knees, hips, standing, walking, balancing, yup they are all affected by the health and functionality of your feet. Get to know your feet better and experience how healthy feet make a happier body!

Through self massage techniques, creative-corrective movements, and skillful stretches this workshop aims to bring suppleness back to the feet, create intelligent mobility between the feet and the legs, and help reestablish the proper alignment from pelvis to feet.

Cleansing Rejuvenation for the Fall

Sunday, October 15, 2017
at Rhythms

Join us for a workshop focused on taking care of you during this seasonal transition using Ayurvedic principles and essential oils.

As the fall season is upon us, our bodies are replicating the environmental changes you see before you. Where leaves are changing to brilliant fiery red, our bodies are balancing the fiery summer heat we leave behind with the colder shift to come. The practice of Ayurveda pays tribute to these swirling energies and teaches us how to embrace the reorganization that is taking place physically, mentally and emotionally within us.

In our workshop we will demonstrate just some of the Ayurvedic principles that help you detoxify and reinvigorate yourselves in this delicate time of year. We will share:

  • Basic things to do for a simple at home cleanse to manage these energies
  • Foods to embrace and which ones to limit
  • Essential oils that support your process of cleansing and rejuvenation
  • Emotional signals to notice and balance
